AppCleaner is a small application which allows you to completely and properly uninstall unwanted apps.
It isn’t, in fact, sufficient to just delete an application. Installing an application distributes many files throughout your System using space of your Hard Drive unnecessarily.
AppCleaner can find all these small files and safely delete them.

LittleSnitch
As soon as you’re connected to the Internet, applications can potentially send whatever information they want to wherever they want.
Little Snitch informs you whenever a program attempts to establish an outgoing Internet connection. You can then choose to allow or deny this connection, or define a rule how to handle similar, future connection attempts.

Wacken ich komme!
Gestern kam endlich meine Karte an:
Leider war ich nicht schnell genug eine reguläre Karte zu bekommen, so musste ich mir auf eBay um etwas mehr Geld eine ersteigern!
Am 30.7 beginnt die Reise zum W:O:A – Wacken Open Air und ich bin schon gespannt, wie’s wird!

Meine Hardware Ausstattung
Apple MacBook Pro (ansehen)
2.2 GHz, 2 GB RAM, 120 GB HD
Für mich eigentlich komplett überdimensioniert. Für meine Anforderungen würde ein MacBook sicher auch genügen und wäre um eine Ecke billiger gewesen. Derzeit würde ich aber trotzdem nicht wechseln.
Apple Keyboard (ansehen)
Eine der besten Tastaturen auf denen ich je getippt habe. Ich liebe diesen Tastenanschlag – da macht tippen wieder so richtig Spaß! Ist jeden Cent wert!
Apple Wireless Mighty Mouse (ansehen)
Über diese Maus bin ich mir nicht im klaren. Eigentlich ganz cool, aber irgendwie doch nicht so. Über die Ergonomie lässt sich streiten (da gibt es sicher besseres), der Scrollball ist fantastisch. Leider lässt die Lebensdauer der Batterien zu wünschen übrig – gleiches gilt für den Preis.
Brother HL-2030 (ansehen)
Dieser Drucker war ein reiner Glückskauf! Ich war schon länger auf der Suche nach einem günstigen Laserdrucker. Die meisten unterstützten aber nicht OS X. Dieser unterstützt sämtliche Betriebssystem und erledigt seinen Job wunderbar.
Netgear WGR614 (ansehen)
Dieser “Lowend”-Router arbeitet war recht zuverlässig, würde ich mir aber nicht mehr kaufen. Ich vermisse meinen Linksys!
Linksys Wireless-G Print Server WPS54G (ansehen)
Der Drucker steht im Vorraum im Kasten, ich drucke von meinem Arbeitsplatz aus! Die Konfiguration unter OS X ist etwas verwirrent, aber danach funktioniert dieses Teil super.
Western Digital Passport II 250GB (ansehen)
Endlich eine externe Festplatte die man wirklich überall mitnehmen kann! Toll daran: sie benötigt nur einen USB-Anschluss.
LG L226WTQ (22 Zoll TFT) (ansehen)
Günstiger TFT der für meine Ansprüche komplett genügt. Müsste aber mal kalibriert werden.

Neue Kopfhörer
Nach ca. 1,5 Jahren haben meine Sony MDR-EX 71 entschieden, nicht mehr so wollen wie sie sollen.
Was ist defekt? Vor einigen Tagen bemerkte ich leichtes “knacken” und rauschen im rechten Hörer. Diese Phänomene wurde von Tag zu Tag immer häufiger, bis ich bemerkte, dass dieses Problem anscheinend durch das Kabel ausgelöst wurde. Wird das Kabel in die richtige Position gebogen, funktioniert der Hörer ohne Probleme.
Nur welche Kopfhörer sind gut? Die Sony MDR-EX 71 sind vom Klang super, nur störte mich das Kabel-Design:
Ohne die Kabelverlängerung ist das Kabel einfach zu kurz, mit Verlängerung stört die Kupplung, da sie einfach zu schwer und klotzig ist.
Nach kurzer Recherche und einer Empfehlung eines Freundes bin ich auf die Sennheiser CX 300 gestoßen.
Bestellt sind sie, Anfang nächster Woche sollten sie im Briefkasten liegen. Ich bin gespannt.

Cleanup MacPorts
MacPorts ist sehr aktuell, so wird die installierte Software natürlich oft upgedatet.
Dabei bleiben die alten Versionen als inactive installiert. Dies hat meiner Meinung zwar keinen Nebeneffekt (ist super wenn eine aktuelle Version nicht mehr will – downgrade ganz einfach), mich stört es aber.
Hier zwei Commands:
- Alle inaktiven Ports deinstallieren:
sudo port -f uninstall inactive - Alle Sourcen löschen:
sudo port clean --all installed(bei mir waren das ~70MB).
